Ahhh! The sound of a productive team is wonderful to the ears. The AppThemes lead team is making great progress on Vantage. Andrzej is doing fantastic work on ClassiPress 3.2. And we’re finalizing designs for the release of our ideas theme.
The lead developers are getting so much work done on Vantage that it’s time for management to start thinking about our next theme. That begs the question, “What should be next for AppThemes?”

Who better to put this question to than you? That’s right, our loyal customers and supportive community members. This is your chance to tell us what you want next. What theme have you been longing to have?
We checked out our ideas exchange to come up with the most popular theme ideas. Read the short summaries and then vote in the poll below. If you don’t see the theme you want, why not tell us about it in the comments.
Daily deals are widely popular among consumers these days and the industry is growing exponentially each year. Offer one-day or group deals at huge discounts. Allow membership and deliver deals daily via email, social networks and RSS feeds. This theme might be able to work as a deals aggregator, too.
The online auction industry is about millions of little niches. You likely concentrate a lot of your time on one or two niches that you really love. You could leverage that enthusiasm into creating an auction (or reverse-auction) site where like-minded people offer and bid on items that they are just as passionate about.
Review sites are a pretty great thing. They attract shoppers that are ready to make a purchase but just need a little reassurance that they are spending their money wisely. A smartly developed reviews theme would help you generate attractive and SEO-friendly review content. A price comparison feature would make it even more compelling for cash-in-hand shoppers.
Pinboards are the biggest online craze these days. Nothing is growing faster or generating more buzz on the internet. A pinboard theme would help you get in on the trend.
It surprised us that this is one of the most popularly requested themes on our ideas exchange. And why not? Everyone’s looking for love. Charge a price to allow singles to create a profile, communicate with romantic prospects and post regular updates about their dating adventures.
This theme could have dual purposes. It could serve as a booking tool for small hotels and motels. It could also be a central vacation and rentals site for multiple properties like VRBO and AirBNB. Charge property owners to list their rental and accept reservations.
How many people search for how-to articles or tutorials every day? The number must be mind-boggling. A how-to theme would help you tap into that traffic. Accept user generated content or create your own. We’d make sure this theme had a ton of advertising space.
It seems like every shop has a real estate theme but perhaps it’s time for a real estate theme done the AppThemes way.
Maybe you just want to sell stuff online and need a reliable store front and shopping cart to make it happen. Should we create a theme to help you do that?
When we released QualityControl, many people asked, “Why?” We agree that it’s not like our other themes but we have had a lot of great feedback about QualityControl. Maybe we need to focus on more productivity tools for our next themes. Possibilities: wiki theme, Q&A theme, a support theme, CRM. How about an enterprise social networking theme?
Maybe we shouldn’t focus on new themes. Should we try to extract some of the functionality of our themes in plugins? Should we create plugins for bbPress or BuddyPress?

My vote would be to work on perfecting the Vantage theme. This could be the platform in which you could integrate new themes, however, this particular theme really needs attention as a directory platform:
1. design and asthetics to make it a professional looking directory
2. contact us form (like classipress)
I have classipress and would like to use Vantage asap.
Jim G, we are certainly working very diligently on Vantage at this very moment. Vantage 1.1 should be released sometime in the next few weeks. By the time we release 1.2, later this year, Vantage will be a screaming theme.
Will Vantage 1.2 have the Events functionality?
That is the current plan.
any theme or plugin that would provide a service to the public. Some ideas would be:
1) submission to the search engines – seo
2) SEO tools
3) An E-Card Theme
4) Webpage/site creator – with export
5) Converter to PDF (ebook creator)
6) Ebook cover creator
7) App creator

I would be interested in an auction plugin for classipress. Would gladly pay for it.
This is a must have — Appthemes did such an amazing job with Classipress…why not take it further with an auction version?
Let me speak from my 15 years of experience, almost all above mentioned themes are good choice, BUT trust me and spend all your resources to create a City Portal with all modules you’ve created until now and ability to add the new ones by the time they will arrive to the market.
Combine all existing themes into Portal with a Front Page for city Portal, member area with ability to manage own listings for users – that’s the point of business: many many good Domains are still parked and not developed, just because there is still no decent City Portal CMS (yea, 1 or 2 uber-expensive).
If you will combine existing themes into Portal with an appropriate Front Page – i would easily pay the price of the Full App Themes Club membership.
The modularity of your Themes + possibility to integrate them into one bundle is the way to go, otherwise you’ll not win the customer’s interest.
Why Vantage made all that noise? Cause many of us expected portal-alike Theme.

An app for mobile phones for my website would be amazing. Any idea’s? Classipress is already awesome, but I’ve noticed a lot of users of my website are using Android and iPhone’s to view it.

any theme you make I would sugest you to make them modular. It is better to have both vantage and forum in the same theme. I like and vote for portal ideea.
I think an e-commerce site would be great, although, I would love if Vantage was finished first. 🙂
Hi, for me the auction theme is the absolute n° 1 choice.
But I would also be interested to see that I can integrate the different themes in one website from inside the backoffice. I have for example a content website on logistics. It would be great to see that I can add a jobsection using jobroller, an auction site or classified ads section for second hand reachtrucks (example) and so on.

I just started using Classipress but find it lacking in pricing options: we should be able to set up custom duration of featured ad, along with custom duration of a much wider visibility options like top of category ads or highlighted ads or urgent labelled ads. Even a relist for a small fee option would be nice. And all of those customizabe for different categories…
A social media plugin would be nice, just a few icons so users coult tweet or publish on FB in one-click any ad they find interesting.
Also an option for ‘follow this ad’ one-click icon for registered users. Etc…
I want to see the e-commerce. You can sell it to your customers or set up your own shop. I integrated affiliates on classi-press, so it is not something I want to see, look at http://www.usedboatsforsaleusa.com. As far as auctions there is PHP auction is a affordable and very good, I have used it before. A reverse auction – freelancer with escrow might be worthwhile, I bought software that sucked and PHP auction does not support it.
An auction plugin would be nice if combined with classipress. But this plugin is being developed at this very moment.
So I am voting for;
– Deal theme (have seen this before on WP fom GetShopped.org) but that sucked big time and costed me a fortune
– hotel booking theme. Booking.com is making a fortune on this but you got to have a scraper for adding thousands of hotels.
– crowdfunding theme. Should work like Indiegogo.com

A dating template would be awesome. The dating market is huge.
Rather than dating specifically, matchmaking in general would be of great use. For example, our organization would love to match a wide range of entities with weighted attributes to each other.
It would also be of great use if two or more of your themes could integrate with each other.
Customers –> Multiple Merchants(Stores/shops) ecommerce theme….would be great..

I’d just like to see Events functionality and multi region incorporated into Vantage. We need a timeline for when this is going to happen and details on the way it will work!
I am looking for a theme or plugin that would allow people to bet to a certain event that I would post, for example a Pacquiao fight, ex. Pacquiao vs. Mayweather (if ever this happens) to bet on any one of them. And for the website owner to get a percentage of the price that goes to the winner.
I would like a Matrimonial theme. If you could develop, it will be gives a great response from all the people.

Dating theme please! Also, i second what sustainhawaii mentioned: match a wide range of entities with weighted attributes to each other, could use the Related Ads algorithm to match entries, that would be awesome, but not mandatory, people chose who they want to be with, not A.I. 😉
Things to consider additionally:
Basic (Free) vs Members (Paid) with access to members only fields (Contact info, Member private gallery, etc.)
Social login options
Mobile version access
Push notifications/Alerts for local listings
Etc.

Think about this: “there is still no WordPress App equivalent to eDirectory.com” – do the job and enjoy the glory.
But – one thought – waiting for this (whatever you choose to pursue) as long as for Vantage would be death-bullet…
Still waiting for integration of event functionality in Vantage
and Geo Map integration like the one in GeoTheme or GeoPlaces theme. Maybe as a plugin?
