Custom Development

For the majority of our customers, our themes have enough features to match their requirements and no custom work is needed. There is, however a small percentage of customers who want to have some custom design or development work done. Unfortunately, the AppThemes team does not provide any custom services at this time but can recommend two alternatives in addition to our Certified and Community Partners.

• Elance – Elance is a great site for posting your projects ranging from design, development, writing, or pretty much anything. It’s the leading website for online work where you can connect with independent professionals to get work done. We recommend using this site because all you have to do is post a job (your project) and others from around the world can bid on it. You will literally get bids the same day you post your project and can choose whomever you think is the best match. Elance makes their money by taking a small cut anywhere from 6.75% – 8.75%. All transactions go through Elance so you don’t have to worry about people taking your money without finishing the work first.
• Theme Services Forum – In our very own forums, you can post your job requirements for free and see if other AppThemes customers are available to help. This is a more casual approach with no 3rd party moderating your project. In most cases you shouldn’t have any problems but please note, we are not responsible for any work or quotes given by others. Please be careful before sending anyone money or your login information.

Plugins

Our themes work without plugins however, we do recommend adding a few to enhance your site even further. Below you will find a list of plugins we like.

AppThemes Dev Team Plugins

• ClassiPress Google Checkout Gateway – This plugin adds the Google Checkout payment gateway to the ClassiPress application theme. You must have a copy of the ClassiPress theme in order for this plugin to function correctly.
• Scribu’s plugins – Not only is Cristi one of our top developers and WordPress core contributors, he’s built a ton of useful plugins for the community.

• WP Super Cache – This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress site which in turn, speeds up your page load time. This plugin is a must for those looking to increase your website performance.
• W3 Total Cache – An excellent site caching plugin which we use on our site. Improve site performance and user experience via caching: browser, page, object, database, minify and content delivery network support.
• WordPress Database Backup – Make sure you never lose your important WordPress data. You can schedule automatic backups of your site and have it emailed to you.
• Maintenance Mode – Adds a splash page to your  website that lets visitors know your blog is down for maintenance. Logged in administrators get full access to the blog including the front-end. Perfect when first setting up your site and don’t want others to see it under construction.
• Subscribe To Comments – Puts a check box below your comments form. Anyone who checks this box will get an email once a new comment has been made. It’s a great way to generate return traffic to your site and encourage people to respond.
• Envolve Chat – Places a chat bar at the bottom of your  website. Envolve looks like Facebook’s chat and allows your visitors to have group and private chats with each other. Great way to increase time-on-site. Features include real-time translation, sharing chats to social networks, and rich admin tools.
