With the upcoming release of the AppThemes marketplace and the introduction of our framework and payments API, we’re going to focus a little more on creating tutorials for developers.

Whether you want to create a plugin for purchase by other AppThemes customers or you just want to super-charge your AppThemes enabled site, these tutorials will be just what you’re looking for. In fact, we think that code junkies will be so jazzed about these developer-focused tutorials, that we created a special section on our docs site. The list is small now, but we’ll adding more every week. Check back regularly.

So this week’s Tutorial Tuesday will focus on a trio of tutorials about developing gateways for the AppThemes payments API. Payments is already in Vantage and we’re migrating it to ClassiPress and Clipper at this very moment. Soon, it will be available in JobRoller, too. Once all the themes have the payments API, one gateway plugin should work in all themes. Imagine your gateway plugin working in Vantage, Clipper, ClassiPress and JobRoller. Wow!

We’ve packed so many features into this release and we can’t wait to get it out. It’s even more solid, usable, and reliable than ever. Here’s just a few of the 6,000 code changes that were made so far:

Pricing Plans

With our new payments API, you can set up your own pricing plans to allow your customers to pick any combination of price and duration they’d like. Every pricing plan can also include either one of the site’s featured options, and can be assigned on a per-category basis.

Poll: Payment Gateways

With the release of Vantage coming soon, our new theme framework is mostly done. All our themes will now have the same code for similar features and functions – including payment processing. In addition, all payment gateways will be created as plugins. This allows us to create a single gateway plugin that can be used in ClassiPress, JobRoller, Clipper and Vantage.

We wanted to know what gateways you are interested in having the most. We have seen suggestions in the forums and on the ideas exchange but thought a poll would be a great way to measure the demand for this.
